A Wedding

I had the amazing opportunity to attend a wedding this afternoon of an old friend. We don't see each other very often and don't talk that often but she is someone who has encouraged me in the past and has been a testament to the grace of growing up in a Christian home. I pray that someday I will have children who honor God and their parents like my friend Jennifer and her family do. As I watched the ceremony I was struck by the fact that this was not just a wedding it was a worship service. The bride and groom had remembered the truth of most importance that our lives are about glorifying God not ourselves. They honored the Father by giving him the honor for who He is and for which He alone is worthy.

How blessed I am to be able to watch and enjoy seeing what God is working in the lives of those who are living to glorify Him. I also wanted to share a lengthy quote that was on the front of the order of service at the wedding. Since it is Author Unknown I hope that it is okay to share. If anyone knows where the quote is from please let me know. I hope God uses it to speak to you as He did for me. Married or Single I believe it speaks to us all~

Everyone longs to give themselves completely to someone, to have a deep soul relationship with another; to be loved thoroughly and exclusively. But God, to a Christian says "No, not until you are satisfied, fulfilled and content with being loved by Me alone; with giving yourself totally and unreservedly to Me; with having an intensely personal relationship with Me alone, discovering that only in Me is your satisfaction to be found, will you be capable of the perfect human relationship that I have planned for you. You will never be united with another until you are united with Me. Exclusive of anyone or anything else. Exclusive of any other desires or longings. I want you to stop planning, stop wishing and allow Me to give you the most thrilling plan existing. One that you cannot imagine! I want you to have the best. Please allow Me to bring it to you. You just keep watching Me, expecting the greatest things. Keep experiencing the satisfaction that I am. Keep listening and learning that things I tell you. You just wait. That’s all. Don’t be anxious. Don’t worry. Don’t look around at the things others have gotten or that I have given them. Don’t look at the things you think you want. You just keep looking up to Me or you’ll miss what I want to show you. And then, when you are ready, I’ll surprise you with a love far more wonderful than any you would dream of. You see, until you are ready and the one I have for you is ready (I am working even at this moment to have you both ready at the same time); until you are both satisfied exclusively with Me and the life I’ve prepared for you, you won’t be able to experience the love that exemplifies your relationship with Me (for this is perfect love). And dear child, I want you to have this most wonderful love. I want you to see in the flesh a picture of your relationship with Me, and enjoy materially and concretely the everlasting union of beauty perfection and love that I offer you with Myself. Know that I love you utterly. I am God. Believe and be satisfied.” Author Unknown

What is God preparing you for… what are you believing you will be satisfied in before or in place of Him and him alone. What are you anxious or worrying for. John Piper says “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.”
I have watched and understand that marriage is not easy two sinners trying to live their lives as one but this picture of satisfaction in God alone brings hope and joy to my heart. I pray it does to yours also.

Thank you for this wonderful post and great reminder to be fully satisfied in Christ alone! You are SO encouraging to me! If it is God's will for you, I feel you will be such a Godly wife and mother someday! You already display many wonderful virtues as God is using you to encourage others in their marriages and personal walks with Him! Thank you so much for your devotion to our Father!

Love ya, Kendra. Thank you for sharing this. Even after one gets married, it can be easy to forget that God needs to be first in our hearts. We are truly most happy when we are satisfied in God. Praying for you.
