Birthday's Galore

Well September is always an exciting month for me celebrating birthdays with the Blackmans! I LOVE birthday traditions. With my "nephew" B I have a couple that I try to make sure happen every year. The first is that on his birthday we make dessert of his choice... Usually Dirt but this year with the theme of their birthday party (post to come) he changed it to Sand.... It was really good so I am going to post the recipe in here too. The other is that I bring him balloons on his birthday a balloon for every year he has been alive. What a blessing to me that I have been able to watch this little guy grow from a small baby to a little man. He has grown up (in size) so much in the past few months, he is also growing in knowledge. I am so excited to see what God is going to do in his life in this next year. Just a couple of weeks ago he was riding with me to lunch after church and we were driving through an area they are doing some road work on and I was having a bad attitude and growling (not sure how else to describe it). He was watching me from the back seat and I confessed to him that I was having a bad attitude. Just his presence made me aware that I need to confess that as sin and recognize that grumbling (better word) and complaining are not pleasing to God. This little man has in the past helped me to recognize sin in my life by being honest about his. One more story and then I will post the pics. A few months ago I was babysitting, he & I were doing prayers before he went to sleep and I asked him what he would like to pray for or about. He asked me to pray that he would want to play games with his friends. I started asking him questions and he told me that he was having a hard time playing with his friends because he wanted to win and if he couldn't win he didn't want to play. He recognized that this was wrong and prideful and knew that he needed God's help to change. WOW this was very impactful for me that a 5 year old was asking God to help him overcome a sin. Now I know that he doesn't know all of the theological terms of mortification and sanctification and all of that but God is at work in his heart. Well here are the pics and recipe as promised. I love you ladies, thank you for encouraging me on here!!!!

Awe what a sweet post (even WITH the picture of the gator outfit on B! He's just adorable regardless of what he has on!)! Aren't kids amazing gifts from God? I think it is so cool that you have been with E and B since before their births and continue to help them grow in their knowledge and understanding of the Lord. What a great "Aunt Kendra" you are to them! :)

They adore you and I think you are a pretty special aunt! :) We thank God for you and the many years God has allowed us to be together. Isn't He good, isn't He kind? Hasn't He blessed us time after time!? (you know me I could on and on and sing the WHOLE song for ya!) Thanks for more pics and the recipe! I LOVE YOU! :)

Yes I agree with Brandi, you are a great example to E and B as well as married women like myself! Thank you! And your recipes are awesome! :) I've gotta know what this "bomb" dessert Lisa wrote about on her blog is! I know chocolate covered strawberries were mentioned so I am quite interested! :)
